Overview

Scenic Journey to Muang Sing & Waterfall Escape

  • Morning: At 9:00 am we meet up at the Discovering Laos office. Taking a scenic route, we drive past winding rivers, lush tropical mountains, and picturesque tribal villages. On route we have the option to stop off at a number of villages, as we pass those of the Hmong, Khmu, Lantan, Akha, Tai Lue and Tai Dam people. Each culture and village is unique, and each offer an equally rewarding experience.

  • Midday: At lunch time we head to the Pha Nguang waterfall for a mouthwatering Lao-style picnic. Once fed and rested, we take a swift drive down to the Muang Sing valley.​

  • Afternoon: We visit That Xieng Tueng, a locally important Buddhist stupa with fantastic panoramic views of the Muang Sing valley and surrounding areas. At around 4:00 pm we arrive at Muang Sing city centre. 

  • Evening: â€‹After a delicious Lao dinner, take time to explore the city at night, relax with a drink, or head for an early night at the guesthouse ready for the next day’s events.

Overview

Morning Market, Village Life & Countryside Exploration

  • Morning: Make an early start to visit the local morning market sometime shortly after 6:00 am. This is a rare chance to see first-hand the cornucopia of products brought to the market by the local minorities. Soon after we visit a traditional Lao eatery for a hearty breakfast. At 8:30 am we have the option to take a sightseeing tour of the city, including the old French fortress and the museum. (open Mon-Fri only)

  • Midday: After visiting the Akha, Tai Lue and Yao villages we stop for lunch at a charming Lao restaurant. 

  • Afternoon: Continuing on our tour across beautiful hills and valleys there is time to walk about and explore the area, taking time to enjoy the stunning scenery, take in the fresh air, and listen to the enchanting sounds of wildlife. At approximately 3:00 pm the tour comes to an end and we drive back to the Discovering Laos office.
